The instructor at Al-Karkh University of Science Sohaib Kamal Mahmood published a literary book entitled "Shakespeare and the Scriptures: The Intertextuality between Venus and Adonis and Joseph’s Story (peace be upon him)".
The book deals with the influence of the Scriptures, especially the Bible, on the literary works of the great playwright William Shakespeare. It gives an analysis of blending the concepts of classical works (Greek and Roman) with the religious ones and how Shakespeare shaped them in pure literary products.
The second chapter of the book deals with the similarities between the sacred texts, especially the story of the prophet Joseph and the poem of William Shakespeare in the aspects of supernatural beauty, seduction, rejection, idealism, narcissism, and the court corruption.
